Places to visit in Manali

The Hidimba Temple, also known as Dhungri Temple is one the majorly visited destination of Manali. This temple was constructed in around 1530s in dedication of a local goddess Hidimba. She was wife of Prince Bhim, one of the Pandava brothers. This temple is a four floor pagoda with extra ordinary wood carvings.

There are lots of Buddhist monasteries in Manali. They are popularly known as Gompas. If you wish to calm your mind and flow in divinity then these Gompas are the best place for you to visit. These monasteries are maintained through donations.

Just around the busy Bazaars of Manali you can locate Nyingamapa Gompa. It is a small and a modern kind of monastery with very beautiful sunflower garden. The main shrine of this Gompa is decorated with hell lot of electric bulbs which highlights the monastery during the night. What adds on to the entire environment here is the Tibetan incense.

In Old Manali you can locate great orchards and guest houses designed in traditional manner. You can also locate a deserted Fort Manaligarh and a Manu Maharishi Temple which was constructed as a dedication to Sage Manu.

The Rohtang Pass is the must visit destination of Manali. This snow covered area near Dassaur Lake offers you the best adventure of your time.
