Rock Fort is the most popular destination of Tiruchirappalli. This fort is located at about 300 ft above the city. It is situated at the bank of River Cauvery. The story of Lord Vinayaka is mentioned in the greatest epic, Mahabharata.
Then you have Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. The highlight of this temple is its location. It is located at Sri Rangam Island in River Cauvery. It was not built by any singly dynasty. Kingdoms like Cheras,Cholas, Hoysalas, Pandyas, and Vijayanagaris contributed in the construction of this epic temple. It took also more 6 centuries to build this memorial shrine.
Thiruvanaikkaval is yet another destination in Tiruchirappalli which is a must visit tourist destination. This place has countless visitors every year. Woraiyur is again a place with momentous significance. During the Chola Kingdom ruled Tiruchirappalli, this place was considered to be their capital. You get the best handmade cigars here. These cigars are well known round the world. Plus the handloom sarees of Woraiyur are also very popular Sri Jambukeswara Temple, located at a few distance away to the east of Ranganathaswamy Temple. The highlight of this temple is the interiors. You can see a large court with the mind blowing Dravidian architecture of about 16th century.
